Daily Style Envy

Who says she can only wear a bikini? Swimsuit model-turned-actress, Brooklyn Decker, caught our attention in two stand out ensembles while promoting her new movie, Battleship.
Navy and white Stella McCartney gown with gold belt. The high neck and cutouts around the mid section are everywhere right now.

Printed Peter Pilotti pencil skirt, yellow Jimmy Choo pumps and a navy silk Theyskens' Theory tank. Gosh I love this outfit! The neon and navy work so well together and compliment each other nicely. Because neon is so harsh wearing it with navy softens the look just as cream or nude would.

Get the look: Print That!

Prints are everywhere! But why just wear them on top? You can pair most of these fun bottoms with with a neutral look on top but my most loved picks are a white tee or blazer, a navy top instead of black (within reason), and the “favorite child”, a chambray shirt.

It’s spring, the weather is warm. Be daring and have a little fun with these patterned pants, shorts and skirts.

Daily Style Envy

Megan Fox in a nude, embellished Elie Saab dress.

Reasons this is well done:

  • Shape of the dress on her thin frame
  • Nude color on her skin/hair
  • Cap toe pump is on trend and a skinny belt on the waist pulls it all together

How To Wear: Colored Denim

The scenario: You have purchased colored denim and have zero clue what to style it with.
{ For colored denim suggestions check out our Pinterest board }
So let’s start with the top. It doesn’t matter what color of the rainbow your denim is if you stick to these five no-fail options.

#1 - A neutral blazer w/ white shirt or visa versa.

#2 - Chambray. Any shade will match any color. Just go with it.

#3 - A Sheer blouse. For the safe bet go with white, neutral or black. If you are a little braver pick a color in the same family as your pants or either a direct contrast. I.e. a purple top w/ green pants (contrast) or a light pink top w/ bright pink pants (same color family)

#4 - Stripes. Wide, skinny, colors, black & white. You really can’t go wrong.

#5 - Animal Print. This is probably the trickiest of the bunch but just stick with a print that balances your color well. You can chose a bold or a soft print depending on the look you are going for.

Pair any of these combinations with pumps, wedges or flats and you have an insta-high-style-outfit! If you are feeling bold go with a bright colored shoe in a contrasting color to your denim. If you are wanting to play it safe pair the outfit with black or neutral.

You are so on your way to being a fashionista.

Daily Style Envy- Oscars Edition

Top looks from the mother of all award shows!

Michelle Williams- wearing a peplum cut, coral Louis Vuitton. Finally, what I’ve been waiting for from her all award season!

Photo: Getty Images

Tina Fey- in custom Carolina Herrera. Great hair, makeup, and a stunning structured dress on her figure. (again, the peplum cut).

Photo: Getty Images

Sandra Bullock- this Marchesa dress makes a statement from the back but I love it from the front as well. Black and white is on trend and the gold detailing around the waist is fab.

Photo: RCFA.com

Octavia Spencer- she’s stayed true to Tadashi Shoji all award season and she has been a knockout for one reason-she picks dresses to make her body look good. (rocket science, I know!). Most women, no matter what size they wear, make the mistake of not dressing for their body type, but not this one. Bravo, Octavia!

Jessica Chastain- in black and gold McQueen. Regal, work of art.

Photo: Getty Images

Rose Byrne- I’m telling you… next time you want to put on black, think again and go for a bold navy. It’s so chic. Rose kills it in midnight blue Vivienne Westwood. I love that the sequins don’t look cheap and too-sparkly and the color, enough said.

Photo: Getty Images

Emma Stone- wearing Giambattista Valli. This one had almost as many mixed reviews as Gwyneth’s cape but there are just too many things that Emma did right. Minimal makeup, sleek hair and the color of the dress for her skin/hair along with good fabric, fit and shape. And let’s be honest, the bow makes the dress- just like it did for Nicole Kidman in ‘07.

Photo: Getty Images

Stacy Keibler- in metallic Marchesa hot off the runway from their Fall 2012 show just weeks ago. Loved it on the runway, love it on her. A note of caution: These shimmery metallics that are popular right now are tricky to pull off, so be careful. If done wrong, they can look very 1982 prom.
